Honoring Nelson Mandela on his centenary was one of the greatest ethical and artistic challenges we have ever taken on. Invited by the South African government, INGF curated a mural that became a geographical and political landmark in the heart of São Paulo.
We brought together two of the most powerful voices in the new generation of Black Brazilian art: Criola and Diego Mouro. The result is a work that transcends aesthetics, celebrating resistance, ancestry, and the legacy of Madiba.
Located on the Elevado Presidente João Goulart — the Minhocão — the mural grew beyond a campaign piece and became one of the most important cultural landmarks for reflection in São Paulo.
Projecting Mandela's centenary required a curation that went beyond the painting. We sought artists who carry in their strokes the depth of that legacy. We created a monument that connects São Paulo to the story of one of humanity's greatest leaders.
